Best. Sandwich. Ever. No contest.
I pride myself on being a huge sandwich lover. There's something about 2 pieces of bread, meat, cheese, and all the toppings you like that make it incredibly flexible and tasty in multiple combinations.
This little hole-in-the-wall is doing it right. I would come back to Italy just for this place. No joke.
My wife ordered a salami and pecorino cheese sandwich while I had the porchetta with buffalo mozzarella, sundried tomatoes and lettuce. Each came with a different type of bread, but holy smokes were they AMAZING!!! They were so good we came back a second time as we were leaving Rome. Which in it of itself speaks for how good it was because there were so many great restaurants to choose from.
Keep doing what you're doing. We'll be back someday! -

The sign above the entrance says "Cantina dei Papi" so, yes, you are at the right spot because it is also the Roma outpost (near Fontana di Trevi) of La Prosciutteria.
It's interesting they don't have a restaurant license, so you order and pick up your food on your own; however, the meats and cheeses really are great and the chill staff let you sit and relax at their tables with a bottle of wine (from their inexpensive selection) just like a restaurant.
A leg of Pata Negra (aka Jamón Ibérico or Iberian Ham) on display near the entrance was tempting ... we just had to get it ... and I'm so glad we did. Five full stars for the fresh-cut slices of this ham for 13€.
A cheaper and almost as good ham option was a board with Prosciutti a Mano (Tuscan Ham aged 24 months) for 8€. We also really loved the 6€ serving of Formaggi - Pecorini Toscani (Cheese Plate - Tuscan Pecorini).
It's meats and cheeses that you should choose when coming to a Prosciutteria and this place really excelled at both. If we hadn't waited an extra 25 minutes for a sandwich they forgot before cancelling it and heading elsewhere to finish lunch, Cantina de Papi / La Prosciutteria would definitely be 5 stars. That service hiccup drops La Prosciutteria - Trevi to just 4 stars overall because it's easy to be a fan of the hams and cheeses. -

I visited La Prosciutteria in 2016, please remember this is when Pokémon Go was at its peak, and they some how got my review taken down so I contacted yelp and they said I can post again. It's a warning against this establishment.
Horrible service from La Prosciutteria. I understand that I am one person so I was introduce to the worst table. I sat down by myself at the entrance. Not a problem I understand it is a business and other people, who due to numbers, came in to take the tables after me. I was on my phone while waiting and I was asked if I am playing Pokémon which was quite an ignorant racist statement. I assume its me being asian. After that this server kept calling me Pokémon possibly around 8 times, which was a very unprofessional and racist. I guess I was not a customer. So I waited for about 15 minutes without service and left. No service. Nothing. Maybe the food and wine would have been worth it but well I never found out. I wish I could put a negative rating or least a 0-star rating. -

I'm torn between a 3 and 4 stars because the meat taste really juicy and flavorful, and the gentleman helping us was very nice and welcoming.. but it left us yearning for more and wanting something else in the sandwich to fully satisfy us both.
We came in and instantly greeted with a smile and willingness to help and give suggestions! Decor is different from anything in the US and does have a lot of character.
The pig was fresh so we both got that with the crunch and soft bread. Meat was juicy and meat to bread ratio was perfect, the truffle spread was BOMB, but the sun dried tomatoes were too salty and we were looking for some type of green or crunch in the sandwich.
Overall it was good , but not the best sandwich we've had in Rome. -

Walking around Rome city center and taking in the sights. I was looking for a place that wasn't a tourist trap and had some good simple food.
This place hits the spot. They have charcuterie and sandwiches.
You cant go wrong with what you order here, good sandwiches and reasonable prices.
I was able to get a sandwich, walk over to trevi fountain and enjoy a nice meal with a great view in the middle of Rome, can't ask for a better meal than that!
